Their first album – soberly called Qairo – creates a path between the Orient and Arab-Andalusian flamenco, thus bringing together the different influences of each member of the group. The name Qairo also refers to the city of Cairo, known for being a cultural crossroads of great importance.

Qairo takes us into romantic and powerful stories that are as much sung as they are danced. Nine titles with exotic poetry where a Mamluk sultan (Qalawun) and an oriental maiden (Niña del Oriente), a princess deprived of her lover (Aixa) and even Ya Rayah – an Algerian classic to which Qairo brings his flamenco sounds very distinct.

And if for Qairo, music is above all a moment of sharing that is lived, sung and danced on stage, you may just need to listen to a few tracks and close your eyes, to take a trip to the banks Guadalquivir or the Bosphorus…
